Story board of shots

We aimed to follow this shooting list

Script

This is the script we followed when filming the production, we changed a few lines that were said, and we added a few extra placements of us characters. We changed what was said slightly before we did a flash back to when Karlton was the delivery guy.

Roles

As I was not in front of the camera I was mostly behind the camera setting up the position of the camera and recording the work, and saying how Faith and Karlton could improve the look of the work. Getting in the right positions so we could film all the action sections were quite difficult as it was a narrow room but I managed to get the footage we needed. The set of the camera was difficult in other places too, and getting it into the right angles so we could get the right shot we wanted, and where able to make it look like real film footage.

During the edititng we worked together especially with the idea of the pace and where the shots should be in the production. Karlton was the person in charge of the sounds we used, he did a lot of searching into the conventional sounds that we have used. There were sounds that he recorded with the help of us. We recorded some breathing and heart beats and together we decided which one he recorded sounded the best and sounded more realistic. He searched more onto the type of music that we used when the production starts off. He managed to find a good piece to show off the                                                                                     conventions of action films.

Faith was the main person in charge of the editing although we all helped and put ideas into the process. She cut down shots to make the film have a quicker pace when needed, which helped keep the suspense up. She added filters and special effects to make sure the lighting was equal. She also made sure that the lighting showed the light bruising, so it looked like the fight looked dangerous and deadly. Faith was also in charge of doing the make up after and while we discussed what we were doing. We felt that she was best with this task due to her being the one who wears the most make up in our group as me and Karlton don't wear any.

Title Options

We have asked around in the class for advice on what names to call our film production. We got a set of names and then we went around again asking which one people liked the best;
The names we got were - The Christmas Delivery
                                       - Delivery
                                       - The christmas surprise
                                       - The delivery guy
We feel that delivery was a large part of the title has delivery in it due to the flash back of how the fight started out.
We went around again with these titles and the one that got the most likes was Delivery so as a group and the help of the class we have decided that we are now calling our production DELIVERY

Mistakes

In this clip there is explanations of some of the clips that we filmed that we did not use. The explanations of why we did not use these clips are included in the video. During this clip we also have sections that focus are bloopers, due to us having the laughs for a bit of the filming process.

Ideas of music

This an idea of a song that we might use in the beginning of the production. We may change the music as this is only a idea of what we might use.

Adventure Of A Lifetime - Coldplay
We feel that the starting bit with no vocals is a good part to use. We feel that it builds up the excitement and adrenaline of the film.We also feel that there this would also be a song that people wouldn't know but might like the sound off. Especially as the person listening to the music at the beginning of the film is a teenager.
Jamie T - Turn On The Light
This song isn't happy and joyful, although it is upbeat which we think would work quite well, as it's not too exciting either, which means that there would be a good chance that this would help with the transition of emotions.

The Maine - Misery
We feel that this could be another good song for our beginning sequence of the film as it is very upbeat and it creates a positive atmosphere, we feel would be good for the first few seconds of the scene as we want a sense of excitement for when the fight scene comes in.  We also feel that it would be a good piece of music to have at the beginning as it will help the dramatic emotion change in the audience. We feel that the use of the  drums and guitar in the song would also help bring the positive emotion into the beginning before the emotion changes to negative.

Separate ways  - Journey
I feel like this would give the scene more tension as it has a very drum based intro which is good for the build up of tension, and the drums is a very memorable beat so the audience will remeber the film when they hear the song.  I feel that this song also would bring a positive emotion before the fight scene starts.

We only plan on using 19 seconds of the song we pick, as that is when the tension in the film begins.

Theme of the film

We have decided that we will have the theme of christmas in our film, as we decided to film in Faiths house when they still had the christmas tree up. We have also decided that we will use the idea that the antagonist being a 'delivery guy' but is after one of the protagonist. We have decided that Faith and me are sisters in the film, as it is a good explanation on how Faith can walk into the house without knocking and why she cares so much about me when I lie on the floor. .

Music Ideas

Today we are looking at sound. we are looking up online for no-copyright music that we can use at the beginning of the opening titles.  We are still not sure on what the music that we want at the beginning of the 2 minute film clip. We have decided that we want music playing as we have started the scene with Faith walking down a road with earphones in, we thought that the music that would be playing in the background would be diegetic music, as Faith would be hearing it too.

Update on make-up

We had videos of some of the make-up material we did on the days we filmed. We put some together and made this video

Location

For our piece, we decided to create the action film movie entrance in an unconventional place, of a family home. Normally in action films, you will see locations in stereotypical dark ally ways or empty buildings, as it helps to create a tense atmosphere before a fight. However, we decided to use a family home, as it will be more of a surprise to the viewers, when they see a fight occur. I like it when films use unconventional places, as the moment comes unexpected. This, for me, creates more impact when the viewers see violence happen. A family home is somewhere people wouldn't expect to see a fight break loose, which means they hopefully will find it more interesting seeing a unique situation in this setting.

The pictures above shows some of our set up. Equipment included a tripod, for steadiness and increased height of the camera, and the camera, for our filming of the production.

Our set and props were something we felt was important in order to create a better mise-en-scene. The dining table and plates help to connote family and love to the audience, which is then twisted, at the sudden change of events. It brings the idea that the two girls would of had dinner and a relaxed evening, creating the idea of a loving family environment. This helps to create more of a contrast against the action filled evening the viewers find them having. It also shows that the fight was unplanned, as they had something else they were going to do. We lit the candles to also create the idea od a cosy setting, which was again ruined by the event of a fight.

Costumes

Now that we have filmed we have our costumes set. We still had Karlton in darker clothes than me and Faith. I wore a white vest-top and acid look washed jeans and a grey hooded jacket. Faith wore dark jeans and a dark ish top, but with her hair down and flowy and it being blonde made her look more of a protagonist than a antagonist. Karlton was still the antagonists. He wore a grey and black top with dark jeans. Although he and faith wore dark clothes Karlton came across as more of the baddy due to his green hair. His green hair made him look more rebellious than either me and Faith.
I wore relaxed clothing (a vest top, zip up hoodie and a pair of jeans). This is because the film is based at Faith's home, which in the film is also my house. We thought i would look more casual as I would have been at home and that it would have been a relaxing day for me until Karlton the Antagonist came in to the picture.
I was ill for this vlog, although me and Faith did make one she acidently deleted it so Karlton and Faith had re-done it.

What we are doing now

During this week we have uploaded all the film footage that we have onto a computer and used final cut pro to edit and cut the clips so they go together well and make the action genre come through onto the two minute opening.

Production Company Name and Logo

We have decided on what to call ourselves and what our logo is definitely going to be. We have decided to call our selves FNK Productions. We have decided to call ourselves FNK as they are the initials of all of our first names. F is for Faith, N is for Nicole, and K is for Karlton.

I feel that this logo looks like a professional logo, I feel this as it is due to the not so large film tape look above the actual name of our production. I feel that the logo looks professional as some of the well known film productions have their names under the bottom of the logo picture. An example of this is touchstone television.

The image used in our logo is rather simple which again is used in many of the well known productions. We felt that the simpler the image the more people would get interested and that we give off a successful look. I feel that the image and the writing has a connection due to the similar colouring. We felt that the colour used was good as a lot of people like this colour and don't hate the colour.

Make Up

We spent the bests part of an hour doing the bruises as we are doing a fight scene and we wanted it look realistic. We decided that make-up would make the whole fight scene look more realistic. We watched many Youtube videos to help with the colours we had to use and what would be best to be used to do the bruises, We managed to watch one which helped produce the black eye. And another one on how to do the one on Karlton's face. We also thought that I should have light bruising on my neck as in one shot there is me and Karlton fighting and Karlton looks as though he strangling me, so we thought that the bruising would be appropriate. This bruise isn't as dominant as the bruising on the face as we know that the strangling didn't last long and there was less power in it than a punch although strangling is more deadly.
To do the make up faith used a variety of colour to make the bruising look realistic. The colours that were used they were purple, brown, red, and yellow. Mixing the colours together gives the effect that i actually had a black eye. We also decided to put red, purple, brown light bruising around my neck as one of the scenes were Karlton strangling me.

Filming

Yesterday we went and filmed of the production.

Shooting schedule

We have decided to film on the 2nd January where we are all free, and are able to make it to Cosby. We have also decided that we will meet up at around 12  and will finish around 8 so we can have a a good time deciding on what shots look best, what actions work best, and what fight moves work best. We have decided that it was best for us to be the ones in the film as we all know how exactly we want the actions and fight scene to look.
